I've been noticing a lot of 70s era cheap Euro sportscars knocking around Williamsburg. This particularly lurid example has always been a favorite of mine. I believe (having little knowledge of these things) that this sort of motor has a high degree of hipster streed cred. Nice if you can handle the rattle of British Leyland engineering and the cordite smell of failing Lucas electrics.

1976 Triumph TR6, North 7th Street and Bedford Avenue

Hi there Cartorialist,
ReplyDeleteI just thought I'd drop you a quick message as this happens to be my car! It's a 1976 Triumph TR6. Much better made and far superior than the TR7 that you have mentioned in your title. It has a straight 6 cylinder 2.5 litre engine that does great things in a car so light and nimble. The only rattling seems to be coming from the terrible state of the roads here in NYC!!! And I'd love to be young enough to be a hipster, but alas I am a 30+ guy who just so happens to live in the middle of skinny jean craziness!!
Hope you're well and good luck with your car hunting - I like your shots!!!
Best,
Andy
Very glad to hear from you, and thanks very much for the correction. I hope the winter has not been unkind to your car and look forward to seeing you around the neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteBest,
A
